Our client has a permanent vacancy for an Environmental and Risk Manager to provide support to the Head of Performance Management, Quality and Audit in the delivery, monitoring, management, and continual improvement of the Environmental & Risk Management Systems in order to maintain certification to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO 31000 Risk Management.

The Performance management, Quality and Audit Team ensures the business is working efficiently and effectively to deliver a quality service. It is responsible for continuous improvement activities to ensure compliance is adhered to, performance targets are achieved, and service is constantly evaluated and improved.

Develop the EMS and ensure compliance across all 16 UK & ROI sites. Work closely with management to implement Environmental and Risk initiatives, policies, and procedures; Improve employee engagement in Environmental & Risk management. This role works alongside the Health and Safety Team and therefore knowledge of Health and Safety would be beneficial.

Support the business in a recent initiative, working towards a Net Zero strategy as part of their commitment to reduce their impact on the environment through the development and implementation of a Net Zero roadmap.

The role

* Ensure that continuous improvement activities are carried out in line with ISO14001 and EMS to improve the approach to Environmental issues and to achieving sustainability Net Zero target.

* Maintenance and development of the Company's Integrated Management Systems.

* Support input to annual Sustainability Reporting through the gathering and analysis of data and production of submission information.

* Providing support to internal audits and management reviews to verify the effectiveness of the Quality and Management system.

* Establish and manage the implementation of Environmental and Risk management programmes.

* In liaison with Departmental Managers, ensuring that site personnel are aware of, and trained in the Environmental and energy related aspects of their activities.

* Providing specialist guidance, technical support and direction to other Departments and acting as the site routine contact with the Environmental regulatory authorities.

* Technical preparation and overall management of Environmental permits and licences.

* Develop, maintain, and review the Environmental and Risk programme(s) to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory, customer and corporate requirements, whilst developing and supporting a Net Zero strategy.

* To keep Directors informed of changes to legalisation and any Environmental issues which may arise.

Requirements

* Essential

* Minimum of HND essential

* Experience of ISO14001:2015 standard

* Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role and an enthusiasm for Environmental standards and compliance

* Evidence of supporting continuous business improvement and delivering high performance standards

* Ability to be hands on and lead by example

* Good problem-solving skills

* Negotiating skills and the capacity to persuade others in order to achieve results and initiate action

* Excellent IT skills, must be competent using Microsoft Office

* Strong customer service focus with the ability to promote this within a team

* Strong report writing and communication skills.

Desirable

* Experience of ISO31000 Risk Management

* First degree in relevant Environmental subject

* Experience of Environmental Management Systems

* Examples of self-driven continuous learning

* Automotive or insurance sector experience

* Change Management skills

* Experience of working with regulatory bodies EA, SEPA, NRW, NIEA.

* Working knowledge of waste management, including the classification, collection, processing, disposal, managing and monitoring of waste
