Manchester International Festival (MIF) was launched in 2007 as the world's first festival of original, new artistic work and special events, staged every two years throughout the city.
This is an exciting and transformative period for the organisation as MIF is also set to run The Factory, the world-class cultural centre being built in the heart of the city. It will be Manchester International Festival's permanent home, commissioning and presenting a year-round programme of extraordinary, ground-breaking and interdisciplinary work by leading artists from across the globe. At 13,300 square metres, The Factory will be ultra-flexible, enabling large-scale artistic work of invention and ambition that isn't made anywhere else. Due to be completed in late 2022, The Factory will add 1,500 direct and indirect jobs to the city and over £1 billion to the city's economy over the next decade, cementing Manchester's reputation as a globally important cultural centre. The Factory is designed by world-leading architects Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), and will be their first major public building in the UK
MIF are now are seeking exceptional candidates for the new role of Venue Director. This individual will be a key member of the Executive Team and provide the visionary leadership required to realise a world class arts venue - accountable for venue management and operations, visitor experience and staff ethos and overseeing the transition into The Factory, including the development of the operating model. Candidates will need the understanding of, and passion for, the spirit and potential of a truly great arts venue - and the ability to make it happen. The post-holder will demonstrate a commitment to championing diversity and inclusion and to setting and maintaining the high standards required to make this venue a success. They will bring proven leadership and management skills, emotional intelligence and confidence as an ambassador and public communicator.
