Our client is currenty recruiting for a Principal Engineer working on electrified motor design.

At our client you will be applying innovation and initiative on a daily basis to design and prototype propulsion and actuation systems for a new age of electrified technology. The systems they design range from 1 Watt to mega-Watts and power vehicles and applications on land, in the air and on water. With bases in the UK and USA, our client enables its global customer base to do things that have not been done before.

The company are recruiting a Principal Engineer for the detailed design and prototyping of electric motors. This includes structural and thermal analysis as well as CAD design for a variety of technologies. Design for manufacturing and assembly as well as the definition of virtual validation and physical testing plans is required. The role involves operating in a dynamic project environment including technical, commercial and customer management.

You will have:

Extensive experience of electrified system mechanical design and/or analysis

Demonstrable experience for the key elements of the role and responsibilities outlined above

A deep understanding of manufacturing techniques used for electric motors for prototypes and series production

Thorough knowledge of state of the art materials and emerging technologies

Experience in some of the following analysis: vibration, life and NVH

A detailed understanding of HV safety standards and creepage and clearance design rules

Worked in a systems engineering environment

High standards when creating detailed 2D & 3D CAD models and drawings using best practice geometric tolerances and relevant drawing standards

An understanding of market trends and challenges, and applications of existing technology within the industry

A track record of innovation

Developed a strong technical reputation and relationship with customers and suppliers Desirable:

1D and 3D thermal analysis including CFD or SPH

Understanding of the electromagnetic design and analysis of electric motors and casing design
