The Management Accountant Opportunity:

Due to growth, we’re now recruiting for a highly motivated and commercially minded Management Accountant to join the team based in West Sussex. Working closely with the rest of the Finance team, the key aspects of this role is to support the unit, work directly with stakeholders to help deliver value and commercially focused support designed to improve margins.

You’ll be responsible for providing accurate, meaningful and insightful financial analysis which will include sales & margin analysis, detailed business analysis and management information, forecasting and commentary, budget management, etc. for the main trading company.

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller, this is a key role which will require a “hands-on” and flexible approach. 

Management Accountant Key Responsibilities:

+ prepare periodic financial statements, financial reporting and management information for the main trading company including profit and loss account, balance sheet and cashflow and provide insightful variance analysis and commentary;
+ assist in the production of a consolidated financial position, including actual and budgeted/forecast data; 
+ prepare and analyse commissionable margin for payroll purposes;
+ support the Assistant Financial Controller and Group Financial Controller in regulatory tasks including the annual regulatory reporting process, year-end audit queries and ad-hoc projects;
+ ensure relevant policy and procedural documents are up to date whilst confirming internal financial controls in place are operating effectively;
+ deal with ad-hoc queries from purchasing, sales & sales support teams in a timely and professional manner;
+ plan and supervise the activities of assigned junior members of the team, ensuring they’re trained and developed to fully meet their potential.

Management Accountant Required Skills & Experience:

+ competent accountancy professional who is likely to have similar experience in a previous role, preferably within an SME environment;
+ commercially aware with an interest in business and an understanding of how an business works and manages resources;
+ solid management accounting, forecasting and operational reporting experience;
+ highly proficient in Excel and SAGE; knowledge of Microsoft Access would be useful;
+ excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to articulate an opinion effectively;
+ excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work cross functionally and interact confidently with multiple stakeholders;
+ robust and resilient in approach – the confidence to challenge 'push back’ when required;
+ an enquiring mind with a logical approach to work, combined with numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills;
+ excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to work calmly and methodically under pressure;
+ keen eye for detail, places great importance on accuracy and attention to detail;
+ proactive in approach with a flexible attitude;
+ A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
+ team player – understands the importance of collaborative working.


+ Educated to degree level (or equivalent), preferably in a finance related discipline.
+ Part-qualified/finalist or newly-qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or qualified by experience.
+ Location: Company Headquarters at Wisborough Green (Guildford 30 minutes, Horsham 20 minutes). 
+ Hours: 9.00am to 5.30pm / Monday to Friday. (37.5hrs per week)
+ Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
