Cover Teacher
Salary: £120 - £150 per day

GSL Education are actively seeking a Cover Teacher to support the learning of students in a client Secondary School based in York, North Yorkshire who can cover a range of subjects. For teachers just starting out in their careers or more experienced teachers seeking a more flexible work-life balance, this is a excellent opportunity to increase their experience.

Cover Teacher Responsibilities:

Maintaining a consistent and effective learning environment when the regular teacher is absent.
Manage student behavior and address any disruptions promptly and appropriately.
Establish and enforce classroom rules and expectations.
Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, adhering to the curriculum and learning objectives.
Facilitate class discussions, activities, and exercises as outlined in the lesson plan.
Ensure all necessary teaching materials and resources are available and properly utilized.
Provide assistance and support to students who may require extra help or guidance.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance during the absence of the regular teacher.
Cover Teacher Requirements:

Must have worked in a classroom in the last two years and be able to provide relevant references. PGCE placements will be accepted.
Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Be able to rapidly engage students and establish a rapport with students and staff alike.
Be a confident behaviour manager.
Lead by example as an enthused and highly motivated educator.
Have an enhanced DBS certificate for Enhanced Child Workforce registered with the update service. Alternatively, you can apply for one through GSL Education.
ECTs, Overseas Trained Teachers with the right to work in the UK as well as Instructors with relevant experience are also welcomed to apply.
