The Company
Our client, established in 1985, is a leading high-end new build, refurbishment, and fit-out main contractor. Over the years, they have evolved from a family-run business to a renowned Design and Build contractor that operates in various sectors such as commercial (CAT A, CAT A+, and CAT B) refurbishment, residential (super prime/high end), healthcare, education, and industrial projects.
With a turnover of approximately £30m and an impressive pipeline of upcoming works, including a £20m office alteration that's set to begin soon, our client is seeking to expand their Estimating team. The successful candidate will join their head office located in Stanstead, Essex, but will work on projects based in Central London and the surrounding areas. As a client-facing and hands-on Estimator, you will be required to visit their sites occasionally.

Responsibilities of the Estimator:
To take active responsibility for all Estimating procedures.
To follow the tender deliverables as laid out within the business tender approach process.
To take a lead role in the tender adjudication process.
To actively promote company philosophy and culture.
Be aware of element costings and costs/ft2.
Develop and manage the company supply chain, including the introduction and vetting of new subcontractors and suppliers.
Develop initial project budgets and agree on detailed cost plans with the client or professional team.
Advise clients on procurement routes available and be aware of the different risk profiles and requirements of different forms of contract.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and work on multiple tenders at any one time.
Run a risk and opportunities scheduled for the tender and qualify our bid as necessary.
Establish Professional team relationships throughout the tender process.
Understand contract amendments and risk, insurances, warranties and bond requirements and liaise with selected Insurers where applicable.
Understand the requirement of Design & Build tenders and the importance of Contractors' Proposals. Advise and assist with value engineering exercises.
Advise on the selection of suppliers & subcontractors.
Monitor the information flow both to and from the business during the tender period.
Attend internal & external meetings with the proposal team, design team and subcontractors.
Attend mid-bid and post-tender interviews.
Provide feedback to subcontractors on completion.
Internal reporting to line managers including keeping them fully informed of issues and potential risks to the business.
Seamlessly hand over a completed bid to the successful delivery team and assist as necessary with the initial placing of key packages. To be successful as the Estimator, you will need to possess the following:
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Experience working with NEC, JCT, and D&B contracts is required.
Proficiency in Excel and Sharepoint is essential.
Strong communication skills and commercial acumen are necessary.
A recognised qualification in a building-related subject is mandatory.
Exceptional IT skills, including knowledge of Excel and Conquest software systems, are a must.
Proven experience in estimating on a wide range of projects, including commercial fit-outs, refurbishments, new builds, and high-end residential projects is essential.
