Position: Mechanical Estimator - Commercial and Industrial Projects

Job Description: We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our dynamic team. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our pre-construction process, ensuring accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical systems in commercial and industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing project requirements, sourcing material and labor costs, and producing comprehensive estimates with project values up to £2 million.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to understand project specifications and requirements.
* Analyze mechanical drawings, blueprints, and other documentation to prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
* Source and liaise with suppliers to obtain competitive quotations for mechanical equipment and materials.
* Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals for mechanical installations and services.
* Utilize estimating software and industry databases to streamline the estimation process.
* Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project budgets.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, labor rates, and material costs.
* Present estimates and proposals to the management team for review and approval.
* Assist in the preparation of bid packages and submission of tenders.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred.
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on commercial and industrial projects.
* Solid understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection installations.
* Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
* Strong analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
