Assistant Estimator required in Essex

GVR Solutions are currently representing a are a well established ain contractor, based in East London / Essex, who are currently in the market for an Assistant Estimator to join their pre-construction team. As a company they are restructuring the pre-construction department and this is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or trainee Estimator to work alongside one of the best estimators in the industry.

As a business they typically work within the Residential, Education, commercial, ecclesiastical and leisure sectors providing both new build and refurbishment services. Typical project values range up to the £7m mark.

Assistant Estimator responsibilities:

* Collation & review of tender documents to gain a solid project understanding

* Measurement of technical drawings using both CAD & traditional measurement methods

* Working amongst our wider team to obtain job specific market rates for materials

* Liaison with business partners and subcontractors to obtain site specific quotations

* Establishing new and building existing relationships with clients / contractors / suppliers

* Coordinate site visits with team members to understand project logistics / constraints

* Creation & preparation of bills of quantities / schedules of rates for submission to clients

* Presentation of tenders for adjudication with senior management team

* Attending meetings with clients to discuss projects / tenders & negotiate contract sums

The ideal candidate for role of Assistant Estimator must have:

* Have previous construction experience or currently be in a construction-based education

* Keen to develop skills (training will be offered if required)

* Be self-motivated and driven to succeed

* Possess good time management skills and be comfortable working to deadlines

* Work well within a team, but also be happy working individually

* Be comfortable using all Microsoft applications and have robust IT literacy

* Be keen to learn how to be a great communicator

* Have some experience with estimating software
