Purchasing Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Days: Monday - Friday

Duration: Permanent

Duties:

Responsible for overseeing supply chain management and procurement;

Working closely with production team to plan and order products to meet requirements,

Sourcing and developing relationships with new and existing suppliers, conducting regular visits, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance and quality,

Optimisation and reduction of costs to develop Just in Time practices,

Maintaining stock in line with financial plans, identifying and managing critical risk and single source items,

Source alternative materials to overcome long lead times and single source components,

Identify new technologies and processes and feedback to engineering and management teams.

Experience:

Must have previous experience within a similar management role, preferably within the manufacturing sector, including leading, developing and expanding purchasing and supply chain departments.

Must have previous experience of MRP systems, a high level of literacy on MS Excel and good knowledge of financial principles.

Must be able to work well as part of a team, with excellent communication and negotiation skills, in addition to a positive and proactive outlook.

CIPS qualifications advantageous as is an understanding of steel or aluminium materials, precision engineering and the ability to read mechanical drawings.

Driving licence is preferred as occasional travel will be required.

This is not a remote working role. Discounted ferry travel is available.

Salary: Up to £47,000 dependent upon experience
