Finance Manager:
Responsible for supporting the Accounting Function in overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of financial data, and providing financial input to support the company's growth, profitability and cash generation goals.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills, be able to multi-task and meet deadlines as well as the ability to communicate at all levels. This is a role for someone with passion, drive and ambition to make this small but growing department their own. They must be able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
This position requires strong team playing and analytical skills, high initiative and a passion for understanding the finance operations within an SME. Alternatively, a less experienced candidate from a larger company who has the desire to broaden their accounting experience within a smaller, entrepreneurial business. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring accountant to supercharge their financial and commercial career.
Responsibilities of the role:
* Prepare financial budgets and forecasts and production of accurate and timely financial reports to the management team.
* Support the Managing Director in defining, reporting on and delivering the new department scorecard metrics.
* Seeking ways to optimise the variable cost base through supporting the departmental managers in their own budget control
* Supervise the Senior Finance Assistant, Finance Assistant (and future purchasing function), providing guidance and performance evaluations.
* Overseeing receivables, payroll and VAT returns
* Identify and meticulously approving credit limits and authorising the release of design, artwork and installation services.
* Year-end stock reconciliation and write offs.
* Develop and implementation of new procedures/best practice to enhance the workflow and productivity of the department.
* Work with the Managing Director to implement and continually improve company-wide processes, policies and controls in support of the business plan.
* Implement and manage periodic cash flow forecasts and advise Directors with actionable insights to ensure optimal cash management
* Help streamline financial processes for department efficiency to support tasks like a fast-close month-end.
* Monitor and analyse costs across the business, implement effective cost control measures and provide recommendations to streamline company processes.
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions, investments and new sale and market opportunities.
* Work with the sales department to develop accurate mid and long-range forecasting models and techniques. Demonstrable evidence of past experience in this or an aptitude to be able to do it.
* Prepare and present ad hoc commercial and financial analysis for the Directors.
* Manage the administration of financing arrangements
Requirements:
* Part qualified CIMA or ACCA who wants to complete their training as part of career development.
* A commercially astute graduate with 5-8 years relevant experience post degree with a good understanding of how technology and systems can improve business process.
* Skilled in using SAGE financial software and advanced with Excel.
* Able to get work done quickly and efficiently whilst remaining detail and control-oriented, with a high level of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
* Highly driven with a desire to develop into an integral and valued manager within our ambitious fast growth family run business
* Self-starter with a high level of initiative that can be clearly demonstrated in previous role(s)
* Excellent analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
* Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to influence the wider non-finance team and senior management by confidently explaining reasoning and methods.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, coupled with a strategic mind-set
* Willing to interact and assist other members of the team as would be expected in a smaller company environment.
* An interest in quickly developing both personally and professionally within a dynamic and ambitious creative team.
* The successful candidate will be a natural relationship builder and be at ease in all business and social situations
