Our client, a leading property investment and development finance company based in the Birmingham are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance and MLRO to join their team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
The job:
The Head of Compliance and MLRO will play a pivotal role in overseeing all compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) activities within the organisation. This individual will serve as a key member of the senior management team, providing leadership, guidance, and expertise to ensure that the company operates within the bounds of UK laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures tailored to the UK property investment and development finance sectors.
Assess the potential impact of regulatory changes on company operations and provide strategic advice to senior management.
Conduct regular compliance risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with property investment and development finance activities.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and the Board of Directors on compliance-related matters, highlighting key issues and developments.
Serve as the MLRO and ensure compliance with all UK AML regulations, including the detection and reporting of suspicious activities.
Implement and maintain robust AML controls and procedures to prevent money laundering
Prepare accurate and timely reports for submission to regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with UK reporting requirements.
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that IT systems and infrastructure comply with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
Collaborate with product development teams to incorporate compliance considerations into the design and implementation of new products and services, from inception through launch and ongoing maintenance.
Conduct reviews and assessments of product documentation, marketing materials, and customer communications to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Ensure effective communication and training programs to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements among employees.
Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organisation, fostering a commitment to integrity and accountability.
Experience:
Experience working in a Senior role in Compliance, AML, or related roles within the UK property investment and development finance sectors.
Strong understanding of UK laws and regulations governing property investment, development finance, and AML compliance.
Proven track record of developing and implementing effective compliance programs and policies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
High level of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of compliance and professionalism.
