The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is the UK's primary competition and consumer authority, making markets work well in the interests of consumers, businesses, and the economy. What we do makes a difference to people's lives, and to ensure we continue to be a high performing organisation our Technology and Business Services team are crucial in supporting our work, taking responsibility for business and IT change initiatives across the CMA.
Working with the Technology and Business Services team, you will be responsible for the delivery of a variety of digital and technology projects, based on current and emerging business requirements, including citizen/business facing services and cyber security implementations, ensuring projects are well defined and managed to achieve delivery of business benefits. This will require establishing and implementing project management governance, including quality assurance, managing teams through the project lifecycle and engaging key internal and external stakeholder relationships and external suppliers.
The Technology and Business Services team is responsible for over 50 contracts with several key external suppliers, including Microsoft, Vodaphone and other service providers and you will work with colleagues across the CMA to obtain maximum value for money from our commercial contracts, including producing / quality assuring all Statement of Requirements and running pre-tender engagement with potential suppliers.
You will also be responsible for maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction with IT Customer Services, which will include managing the Service Desk, acting as the first point of contact for high risk escalations, complaints and issues and ensuring the Service Desk continues to deliver all business-critical functions while CMA staff are working from home (due to Covid-19).
A proven ability of successfully managing and delivering multiple IT projects, using both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies is essential for this role and you will need excellent communication skills in order to communicate technical information to stakeholders and technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
Evidence of working as part of a team and the ability to supervise, develop and motivate colleagues at all levels is also essential, as is the ability to manage flexible multi-disciplinary teams. Equally important is experience of running end to end procurement of high value and strategic contracts with IT providers along with an understanding of acquisition and supplier management (for example, Crown Commercial Services frameworks).
