Tutoring jobs in Norwich: Russian language.

I have about six months in which to learn to communicate with a Russian non-English speaking family.
This is the background: next July my son is marrying a lovely Russian girl who speaks perfect English.
Her family are coming over from Russia (Covid permitting) for the wedding.
None of us speak Russian and I think that it'd be awful for the poor bride if she has to be the only translator.
She wouldn't enjoy her wedding day at all if that's the case.
I feel that one of the UK family should make an effort to take some of that burden off her shoulders and be able to make small talk and some conversation with her family.
So, do you think you could help? Given that the Russian alphabet is nothing like what I'm used to, I'm wondering if I should learn that first? When I learnt French I learnt the verb endings and a whole lot of vocabulary which means I could grope my way around in most situations, but I'm not sure how Russian works.
Perhaps I should just go straight into learning to speak it phonetically?Anyway if this is something you think you can help with, please get in touch.
