Sure Start Staff are currently looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer to work on a temporary basis in Rochdale.
Rate of pay: £20.00 per hour
Hours: Full time, 7.40hrs per day, Monday Friday
Location: Rochdale
Employment Type: 6 months, with the possibility to extend
The role:
You will be working with the Planning Service Team. To assist in the carrying out of the functions of the Council in respect of planning enforcement work and related environmental matters.
Duties/Responsibilities (but not limited to)
* Investigate enquiries or complaints arising out of alleged breaches of planning control including unauthorised uses of land and buildings.
* Investigate enquiries and complaints regarding the condition of land and buildings.
* Investigate alleged breaches of planning conditions or legal agreement and through the monitoring of development sites.
* Liaise with and be aware of the responsibilities, duties and enforcement powers of other internal Council Services.
* Collect evidence, prepare correspondence, legal notices and files for delegated authorisation to proceed with necessary legal action.
* Prepare enforcement appeal statements and prosecution files, give evidence for Appeals attending as necessary public inquiries, tribunals, court hearings or similar proceedings.
* Update and maintain accurate files and records relating to investigations into enquiries, complaints and enforcement proceedings.
Experience/Essential Criteria:
* Experience in planning enforcement or a related field.
* Previous experience of reading and interpreting plans and other drawings.
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
* Maintain accurate records and be organised with your case files and correspondence to meet deadlines and priorities.
* Organisation and planning skills with the ability to manage your time and prioritise your workload.
* The ability to deal with people from a variety of backgrounds.
* A logical approach to solving problems.
* Attention to detail.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
* The ability to use your initiative and work well as part of a team.
* A results driven approach to work.
* The ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
