Packaging Technologist
Purpose of the role:
To work with the Research and Development Team, assisting with the creation, design and successful implementation of new artwork and packaging formats for our Kendal based manufacturing client.
Responsibilities
Assist the R&D Team on all aspects of Packaging development hence ensuring coordination of factory trials, creation of packaging specifications for the factory, & support to the team for product launches.
Assist with external environmental sustainability factors affecting the packaging agenda in recommendations which will help the business to stay on track with peer group across the market.
Assist in the research for new packing design and technologies
Develop partnership with equipment and packing materials suppliers and manufacturers
Prepared to attend relevant Packaging and Sustainability Trade shows & relevant Expert events to stay ahead of the challenges facing the industry and planetExperience:
Some experience in business administration is essential
Previous experience in packaging co-ordination is an advantage
Good communications skills, written, verbal and in-person
Organisation and planning with great attention to detail
A strong sense of responsibility, curiosity and a proactive attitude
Problem solving capabilities
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlinesTheir ideal candidate would have some experience working in a packaging role. A food or pharmaceutical brand would be the most relevant background. You don't need to be able to design artwork yourself, but some experience of this is always helpful. You will be liaising mostly between the Graphics department and the R&D Technologists as they develop and launch new products - the overall Line manager is the R&D Manager.
Excel is used heavily in this role, there is a lot of data checking. Accuracy and an eye for detail is a must, as they will be working on ingredients list (down to the microgram!).
You don't necessarily need a bachelor's degree or even A-Levels, but English and Maths at GSCE grade C is a must.
