Job Title: Designated Safeguarding Lead (Temporary)

About Us: We are a vibrant Further Education College located in Halifax, dedicated to providing high-quality education and training to our diverse student body. Committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all our learners, we are seeking a dedicated Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our team.
Role Overview: As the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. Working closely with staff, students, and external agencies, you will lead on all safeguarding matters within the college, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns raised within the college community.
Conduct thorough investigations into safeguarding concerns, liaising with relevant stakeholders and external agencies as required.
Develop and implement robust safeguarding policies and procedures in line with statutory guidance and best practice.
Provide safeguarding training and support to staff members, ensuring they are equipped to recognize and respond to safeguarding issues effectively.
Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and interventions, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.
Collaborate with external agencies, such as local authorities and social services, to ensure appropriate support is provided to vulnerable students.
Keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding, implementing any necessary changes within the college.Requirements:
Previous experience working in a safeguarding role within an educational setting, preferably in Further Education.
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and external agencies.
The ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills.
A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the college community.
Relevant safeguarding training and qualifications (e.g., DSL training) would be advantageous.
Enhanced DBS dated within the last 3 months or on the update service. Benefits:
