The Opportunity
As Logistics Controller you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Logistics Operations. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the Supply Chain and contributing to the overall success of the client. Our client who is a global speciality chemicals company are committed to delivering innovative solutions and are keen on bringing someone in who shares this passion.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
* Safety Focused: Ensure the safe and legal movement of all products.
* Customer Focused: Understand the importance of customer service (internal and external) and ensuring that our product arrives at customers in a timely way. Where there are unforeseen issues or delays ensuring that Customer Service is always informed so that the customer can be updated.
* Import/Export: Knowledge in both import and export procedures. Diligence and attention to detail is required at all times especially when raising appropriate customs documentation (to a first-rate standard). Understanding of excise duty, VAT and movement of dangerous goods (bulk and packed) is required.
* Movement Types: Responsible for ensuring the smooth movement of goods to customer, goods to Innospec sites, tollers or warehouses and in some cases inbound raw materials.
* Hauliers: Must have a good knowledge of both the packed and bulk logistics operators. Build strong relationships with hauliers to ensure that clear and concise communication at all times. If there are issues with hauliers to raise to line management and the haulier for corrective action.
* Cost focused: Monitor, manage, auditing and reporting freight costs and freight forwarder performance
* Invoicing: Raise POs for freight in ERP system. Check that POs are correct and that all additional costs are correct
You will have the following qualifications & experience
* Good working knowledge of national and international movement of freight by road; sea; rail & air with particular reference to dangerous goods movement (ADR / IMDG / IATA)
* High levels of commercial awareness good communication & negotiation skills, supplier knowledge, customer knowledge, cultural awareness
* Working knowledge of international trade customs and excise requirements, export sales, export documentation, letter of credit trading
* Must have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines/targets is crucial. Forward thinking and flexible. Adhering to our compliance programme, code of ethics and attention to sustainability.
* Be able to work well in a team. Able to share ideas and concepts. Support others where necessary. Participate and contribute to team and departmental meetings
* ERP knowledge to fulfil this and any other role within the Supply Chain team.
* An intermediate level of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is also required.

* Experience of AX or SAP would be a bonus.
