Developer Job Description Mostly at home, Leeds one day a week

Oracle, C#, .Net

Overview:

This is a really great opportunity to join a support and development team of circa 10 members as a Developer. You will provide expertise, addressing areas of known weakness and concern in addition to troubleshooting and incident and problem resolution. Our team are dedicated to providing excellent client service and are always looking to expand on our ability to improve service provided to our clients (internally and externally) and future proofing through the innovative use of new tools and technology.

You will work on primarily our Oracle system - a key system for our business but this will bring you into working across several services and other interfacing Applications and systems within an important area of the business, bringing with it variety, knowledge building and collaboration with multi-skilled teams.

The team meet regularly on weekly calls to discuss the week gone by and ahead looking at priorities and achievements but also attend daily stand-ups, knowledge sharing sessions and providing ad hoc support in general.

You will have the opportunity to assist in the design, build and unit test code for the systems as part of the Projects team as directed by the Architecture & Solutions Delivery Teams through the leadership of the Systems Delivery Manager.

What youll be doing:
Delivering code that provides new functionality, remediates problems or issues
Finding, articulating and designing out the relevant weaknesses and legacy wherever possible, in addition to being proactive in highlighting what is possible to the leadership team to gain support to remedy
Production of documentation (e.g. design, specifications) in all contacted systems is also a must, either through the introduction of new code (via Release Note and technical documentation) or through the analysis of code during bug fixes, incidents and problem resolves
Working with the Development Team lead and Systems Delivery Manager to design, build and test code
Ensuring the resolution of issues, incidents and problems within systems due to code, design or data issues
Working to ensure code is of good quality without significant rework being required and without introducing performance or security issues into live services

What were looking for:
A team player
Demonstrable working knowledge and understanding of Oracle, .NET and C#
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of colleagues at all levels across the globe
Experience of writing unit tests & working with tooling such as, but not limited to, ADO for controlling of work allocation and progress
A good understanding and experience of the full software development lifecycle, with demonstrable support experience of legacy systems and platforms
Flexible and pro-active with the drive and desire to deliver results and make a difference
Technical and commercial awareness, a fast learner with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
An understanding of the challenges of legacy vs modern and a willingness to address the former
Object-oriented programming skills and an understanding of SDLC principles would be advantageous but not essential
