This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative well established manufacturing business as Manufacturing Systems Engineer based at their head office in Truro.
Main Purpose of Role:
As Manufacturing Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of the team that develops, implements, and manages all aspects of our factory, including production processes, tools, systems and machines. You will focus on maintenance and development of production systems, especially test systems, as well as providing day-to-day production engineering support to the business.
Key Tasks:
* You will be a hands-on engineer, with a can-do attitude and a mind for continuous improvement, used to using solid engineering foundations to deliver excellence in manufacturing processes and systems
* Monitor, maintain and continuously improve production systems and processes, in particular test systems and other production automation systems
* Contribute to the production and maintenance of a technical roadmap for the factory and the production system.
* Apply Lean Manufacturing methods to maximise performance.
* Plan and manage on-going factory maintenance to minimise downtime
* Manage, maintain, improve processes and systems, machines, tools, jigs, & fixtures
* Working with the R&D team, support the transfer to production of new products and product updates, including design and implementation of systems, tools and processes as needed
* Use the 8D process to resolve problems, with a relentless approach to identifying and eliminating root causes
* Support Technical Support and Quality Team to resolve customer complaints
* Promote safety on site and ensure safe operations in production and engineering activities.
Person Specification:
You will have 5 or more years of previous experience in manufacturing engineering in a technical manufacturing business. You will have experience and skills gained designing and implementing production systems, especially test equipment. You will have track record designing, documenting and rolling out production processes and systems.
Experience and skills required include:
* Degree educated in relevant discipline
* Hands-on engineering of production systems and tools, implementing solutions in both software and hardware
* Development and implementation of Test systems and processes
* Experience in the application of lean six sigma tools, ideally qualified to green belt or above.
* Familiar with Lean Manufacturing principles and their implementation
* Understanding of production process management and controls
* Able to train production operatives and to work with them to solve problems and implement solutions.
* Able to train staff to work with processes and tools
Package:
* Basic Salary between £27,000 and £37,500 DOE
