Mechanical Design Engineer required for interesting opportunity to be involved in the design and development of systems within the Electric and Hydrogen powered vehicle sector of industry.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support all New Project design activities within the business and support the engineering department and projects as required.
You will join a successful team to work on vehicle mobile thermal systems, including more recently, electric vehicle and hydrogen fuel cell cooling, helping industry to move towards a Net Zero target.
This is a key role and will give you the ability to make a real difference to current and future business, fully supported by the management team.
Mechanical Design Engineer Role:
* You will be required to work 3D CAD system (SolidWorks) supporting design activities of both NPI and production designs.
* You will be required to construct and manage BoMs for communication.
* You will be required to create and update 2D drawings.
* Compliance with all H&S procedures and proper utilisation of all personal protective equipment.
* Keep managers and engineering colleagues thoroughly informed on the quality of work, performance, potential problems and feedback from customer.
* You will also be ensuring that company expectations are met in respect to safe working, customer experience, technical competence, commercial target delivery, and agreed quality standards in all activities.
* Participation in design reviews at each phase of product introduction.
* You will participate in validation processes such as DFMEA, Risk Assessments and HAZARD reviews.
* You will be required to complete Product Change Requests (PCRs).
* You will be required to build prototypes and prepares designs for production.
* Overseas travel may be required on occasion to support customer programmes.
Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:
* Ideally hold a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, but a minimum of HNC in Mechanical Engineering will be considered.
* Minimum of 5 years recent industry based 2D/3D CAD experience (ideally SolidWorks), other CAD Systems experience considered.
* Experience of NPI activities.
* Experience with machine design.
* Strong structure/enclosure design experience.
* Strong Sheet metal design (aluminium, stainless steel and carbon steel).
* Knowledge and experience of extrusion process a benefit.
* You will be a practical oriented engineer with hands on experience.
* A problem-solving engineer who can work autonomously.
* Ability to work under own initiative.
* Ability to carry out administration within a given deadline.
* Computer Literate basic use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
* Full UK Drivers licence.

The role is offered on a 38-hour week, however additional hours may be required as the role demands.
4 Day Week (Mon-Thurs) 07:00 - 17:00 with a 3-day weekend
