Business Development Director Fundraising

Location Dover, Kent

Salary £50,000 Per Annum

Are you looking to help your local community? Are you confident in generating business and clients for a well-known local charity? We have an exceptional role for you.

As the Business Development Executive you will be working closely with the Chair of the Board to develop, resource and execute a long-term strategy.

Your goal is to enable our client to meet its charitable purpose and ensure long-term financial sustainability, as they provide sorely needed services to the local community.

Responsibilities

Your day to day will look like this:

* You will be responsible for running a well-maintained and financially secure organisation and ensuring it remains stable.

* Maximising income generating opportunities, especially new business, to let our client work within AT LEAST a break even budget each year.

* Be accountable for achieving sales targets around revenue targets and growth as set out by the Board of Trustees; identifying potential new clients and markets and fundraising.

* Event management, including those specifically with income-generating opportunities, including, for example, an annual conference.

* Ensuring successful and cost-effective Financial management, Business Strategy and Marketing and PR.

* General administration and compliance with Charity Commission best practices and all legal requirements

* Develop and follow a long-term (3-year) business plan from 2024 onwards, upholding a strong level of commerciality and business acumen (subject to twice annual reviews).

* Reporting progress against forecast at every Board meeting.

* Provide leadership and strategic vision by demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence and excellent communications skills, to a team of professional employees and sessional workers.

* Act as the face and principal ambassador of the charity both internally and externally, developing relationships with bodies including the NHS, local partner organisations, donors and sponsors, local and national government, educational establishments, the Charity Commission, and the media.

* Devise and execute an appropriate marketing and communications strategy (including media relations, advertising, listings, sponsorship, signage and PR).

* Articulate, communicate and reinforce to staff, volunteers, supporters and the wider community the mission, vision and values of the charity.

Skills and Experience

* You need to have strong strategic business skills, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial insight who can realise the potential of the charity and secure its long-term sustainability.

* You'll be a good manager and leader with the ability to motivate, lead and inspire. You should use a collaborative and open management style.

* Exceptionally sound financial managers with excellent and successful new business and fundraising skills

* Adept and able to develop the marketing strategy for the organisation to increase revenue year on year.

* Flexible and sensitive to the requirements of the Trustees and always show a strong awareness of the need for good governance.

* Proven leadership skills

* Financially astute and disciplined

* Significant generation of new business and fundraising experience, and understanding of the fundraising climate for charitable organisations

* Results focused

* Experience of working with, and negotiating with, external stakeholders

* Excellent communication skills

* An eye for detail and excellence

Desirable

* An understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing world

* IT literate with an awareness of the importance of coordinated IT system in data-gathering and operational analysis.
