This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers, The Bicester Heritage sale on Saturday the 23rd of September, Bicester Heritage, OX26 5HA. The Aston Martin DB6 was launched at the London Motor Show in 1965, following on from the highly successful DB5, immortalised by the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger. The front of the DB6 was visually similar to the DB5 but closer inspection revealed quite a different car. The wheelbase was lengthened allowing additional passenger space in the rear along with a raised roof line. The profile of the rear quarter lights echoed those of the DB4 GT Zagato, a styling theme that continued through to the DBS and V8 models until production finished in 1990. Offered new by dealer D H Bloomer of Grimsby, this superb looking DB6 was registered new on 16th August 1968 to a Mr. Drink esq of Boston, Lincolnshire. Offered in Olive paintwork over a beige Connolly hide interior, the Aston was originally specified with options including power steering, a heated rear screen and chrome wire wheels. Restoration work was undertaken by Aston Service Dorset and Derek Watson Restoration in 1995. The DB6 was later sold in 1998 where it was dry stored and used occasionally until 2021 when our vendor acquired the car. During our vendors tenure, the car has been fully maintained by renowned marque specialists, Desmond J Smail Ltd of Olney and Aston Engineering of Derby. A very well-presented example, the paintwork retains a deep shine and is in very good order, as is the interior and engine bay showing a light patina as one would expect. Reported to run and drive very well indeed, this Aston comes complete with a sizeable history file including, many invoices for maintenance work, its current V5C registration document and previous MoT test certificates. This example having previously been the subject of restoration and having been maintained to a high standard throughout its life is a superb candidate for any enthusiast or collector looking for a very well presented and imminently usable DB6.
