EQUIPMENT
Green paintwork, Black leatherette upholstery, Removable canvas roof, 4-speed manual transmission with Fairey overdrive, Push-button start, Folding windscreen, Rear bench seats, Spare wheel, Wing mirrors, Smiths heater, 12v power socket, Rubber floor mats.
EXTERIOR
Finished in classic green with a contrasting canvas roof, this 1966 Series IIA is a very smart example of the rugged and iconic 4x4. Still looking great after a cosmetic refresh around six years ago, the body presents in impressive condition with a deep, uniform shine and only a few small defects to report on closer inspection. Underneath, the chassis is solid having previously benefitted from some minor historic repairs.
INTERIOR
The cabin presents really well, not overly dressed but in great original condition with just the right level of patina in our opinion. The seats are without any damage or signs of major wear having been treated to a full retrim a few years back. All the gauges, switches and controls remain in fine condition, and glancing across the painted dash there are few blemishes to note. The front footwells are protected by a set of heavy-duty rubber overmats, and at the rear of the vehicle the bench seats remain in excellent order.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 2.25-litre petrol engine directs around 67hp to all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with Fairey overdrive. The engine fires into life on the button and performs well on test. The last service was carried out October 2021 by Bristol Workshop; the work comprised of routine maintenance and included an oil and filter change.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Land Rover sits on 16-inch Limestone steel wheels shod in a matching set of rugged Avon tyres, including the spare. All the wheels appear in excellent condition having been fully refurbished in recent years.
HISTORY FILE
This right-hand drive 1966 Series IIA is believed to have been owned by the BBC and used in Africa before being re-imported to the UK in 1979. Within the accompanying History File there are workshop manuals, old MOTs, and a raft of paperwork dating back to the early 2000s. The car's recent history is well documented with receipts and invoices, and the most recent service was carried out in October 2021. The V5C shows 10 former keepers.
