We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a SEN Casework Officer . This role involves assisting in the management of the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment and Annual Review Process for children with complex additional needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective utilization of resources in schools and settings both within and outside the county.
Main Accountabilities:
* Undertake workload associated with Education Health and Care Needs Assessment and Annual reviews for a designated geographical patch.
* Prepare and present cases to relevant panels and provide feedback to stakeholders. Implement creative solutions when required.
* Identify, negotiate, and resolve issues arising from casework and inter-agency work.
* Draft Education Health and Care Plans and attend planning meetings as necessary. Assist in monitoring children and young people's progress through the Annual Review process.
* Work in partnership with parents/carers and develop effective relationships with schools, professionals, and agencies.
* Negotiate educational provision with schools, settings, and agencies. Manage and monitor contract compliance with providers.
* Support the Team Leader in meeting statutory duties and targets, and contribute to the development of practices and policies within the team.
* Deputize for the Team Leader when required.
* Contribute to planning and delivering the Local Authority's response to special educational needs in the County. Participate in training delivery to various stakeholders.
* Demonstrate awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and safeguarding principles.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* GCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths
* A Level/NVQ Level 4
* Teaching/special educational needs experience in an educational-related area
* Professional qualifications in Education/special educational needs
* Degree level qualification or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, legislation, and Children and Families Act
* Excellent planning and organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team
* Flexibility and adaptability
* Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and mediation skills
* Effective time management and ability to prioritize workload
* Confident in facilitating multi-agency meetings
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
* Understanding of issues facing children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
* Experience of working as part of a busy team and independently
* Experience in partnership working and leading multi-agency meetings
* Proficiency in report writing and person-centered planning
* Experience in working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
