What is bank/casual work?

As a bank teaching assistant, you'll have the flexibility to cover staff sickness, holidays, and busy periods. Say yes or no to shifts as they become available, giving you control over your work-life balance.

Response abilities of a SEND Bank Teaching Assistant St.Albans:

Supporting the Teacher: Aid the teacher in delivering lessons and activities, including preparing materials, setting up equipment, and providing one-on-one or small group support to students.
Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment by managing student behaviour, enforcing classroom rules, and promoting a sense of respect and inclusivity among students.
Student Support: Offer individualised support to students with special educational needs or learning difficulties, including assisting with academic tasks, offering emotional support, and implementing strategies outlined in Education Healthcare Plans or Behaviour Intervention Plans.
Assessment and Feedback: Help with student assessments, such as grading assignments, recording attendance, and providing feedback on student progress to the teacher and parents.
Resource Preparation: Prepare and organise instructional materials, resources, and learning aids to support teaching and learning activities, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for students' needs.
Inclusion and Differentiation: Promote inclusivity and diversity within the classroom by adapting teaching materials and activities to accommodate students with varying abilities, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the teacher, parents, and other school staff regarding students' progress, behaviour, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
Supervision: Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills as a teaching assistant, staying updated on best practices in education and special needs support.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teaching assistants, support staff, and professionals (e.g., therapists, counsellors) to provide comprehensive support to students and contribute to a cohesive and effective educational team.

Requirements for a Bank Teaching Assistant:

Child and Adult DBS on the Update service or willing to obtain one.
NVQ level 2 in numeracy & literacy (or equivalent)
Range of relevant CPD in preparation for the role
6 Months of Experience working with in a school as teaching assistant
