Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader - Shifts
The role is to work 12 hours shifts as below.
Wednesday 06:00-18:00 day shift
Thursday 06:00-18:00 day shift
Friday 18:00-06:00 Friday night shift
Saturday 18:00-06:00 Saturday night shift
JOB OBJECTIVE
Supervise and co-ordinate all the maintenance activities throughout the factory.
Working as part of the maintenance team to ensure that all mechanical plant, equipment and machinery are operating efficiently with the minimum amount of downtime, and they are kept in safe and good working order.
Using a hands-on approach with effective leadership; ensure a culture of continuous improvement whilst promoting an environment for staff to reach their full potential.
Always ensure safe working, with a right first time every time by everyone attitude, to produce a cost effective, quality product whilst adhering to the Company's policies and procedures.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Install and or maintain all plant or machinery in line with Company requirements.
Operate a preventative maintenance system to ensure that the plant & machinery are in good working order.
Fault find and repair mechanical related problems on the plant or equipment.
Use of effective fault-finding methods in order to locate and remedy faults in the shortest possible time.
Drive utilisation of resource within the team to deliver the best results with the resource available, ensuring that a right first-time focus and good standards of work and repairs are achieved at all times.
Appropriate supervision, coaching and development of team.
Management of contractors and visitors in line with company procedures.
Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good working and clean condition.
Assist with the installation of new plant equipment ensuring the design & installations conform to current legislation.
Order and collect spares for new and existing plant in keeping with the required standards.
Ensure that effective communication methods are always used.
Work is to be managed through the Agility CMMS system; all work conducted will be recorded to a good standard in Agility.
Maintain and monitor the machines and equipment to enable them to achieve their budgeted outputs at the required quality levels.
Ensure that your work/stores area is kept clean and free from obstructions and waste, maintaining a good standard of general housekeeping.
Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task you are performing in a timely and accurate manner.
Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Maintenance Manager.
Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you always adhere to them.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with colleagues
Promote Lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve efficiency.
Take care of equipment used while performing the job.
Cooperate with supervision and fellow employees.
Actively take part in any training requested to enhance your role.
Safely carry out all manual handling in the correct and trained manner.
Work safely and follow all safety rules at all times.
Perform other duties as required by your line manager.
Specific
Accurately report on the work that you have carried out and others that you are supervising for on the relevant paperwork or digital format
Constantly watch for wear and tear on machinery and correct or inform the Maintenance Manager and report on the relevant paperwork
Be available to cover for sickness and holidays.
Ensure you have a very good working knowledge of all plant equipment and machinery.
Ensure that you have test run the equipment after servicing or maintenance in order that the production personnel are able to start & run the equipment without further modifications or adjustments.
Actively contribute to the creation and review of Risk Assessments & Safe Systems of Work
Quality
Ensure the quality of our products at all times.
Be aware of the effect that maintenance changes can have on product quality.
Ensure adherence to quality system & standards in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001.
Ensure that all quality issues are dealt with promptly as per agreed procedures.
Health, Safety and Environment
Ensure conformity and safe working practices in accordance with the Company's health, safety and environment procedures, including but not limited to:
Carry out regular housekeeping spot checks
Report any accidents immediately to your line manager and take corrective actions
Carry out risk assessments and liaise with HS&E department where necessary
Be prepared to attend H&S meetings if requested.
Be a health & safety advocate for the Company promoting health & safety at all times
The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the appropriate areas
Where appropriate, refer any concerns, near misses to the EHS Manager.
