Head of MFL - Grays

Remedy Education are seeking a Head of MFL to join a team based in a fantastic Secondary School in Grays.

Position Overview: As the Head of MFL Teacher, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Modern Foreign Languages department within our school. You will oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of MFL curriculum while ensuring its alignment with national and international standards. Your role will involve supervising a team of talented MFL teachers, providing support and guidance, and fostering a collaborative and inspiring teaching environment. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for language learning and possess the necessary leadership skills to drive the department forward.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, manage, and inspire a team of MFL teachers, promoting a culture of collaboration, professional development, and excellence in teaching.
Develop and implement a robust MFL curriculum that incorporates a variety of teaching methodologies and encourages student engagement, language acquisition, and cultural understanding.
Monitor and evaluate teaching standards within the MFL department, providing constructive feedback and support to teachers to enhance their instructional practices.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes cultural awareness among students.
Collaborate with other department heads and school leadership to align MFL curriculum with overall school goals, ensuring continuity and coherence in the students' learning journey.
Keep up-to-date with the latest educational research, pedagogical approaches, and technological advancements relevant to language teaching, incorporating innovative methods into classroom practices.
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with parents, providing regular updates on student progress, curriculum content, and departmental initiatives.
Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, cultural events, and international exchanges, to enhance students' language skills and cultural awareness.
Participate in professional development opportunities, both within the school and externally, to enhance your own expertise as an MFL educator and leader.Qualifications and Skills:

A Bachelor's degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field (a Master's degree is highly desirable).
Teaching certification and relevant qualifications in MFL education.
Proven experience as an MFL teacher, with a track record of delivering high-quality language instruction.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience within an educational setting is strongly preferred.
Excellent knowledge of current MFL teaching methodologies, pedagogical approaches, and assessment strategies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, parents, and the wider community.
A deep passion for language learning and cultural exchange, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.
