The Graduate Electrical Design Engineer job itself where you will support the engineering department and the production department. Working on group company product ranges including a wide variety of commercial chassis. The role includes new product developments, implementing new options, and working within a dynamic team to generate or modify electrical harnesses for prototype or specific orders. Adapting to customer options and providing electrical support to the production team. More specifically you will be mentored to fulfill all the following in time:
Design effective solutions to the electrical and electronic aspects of the product range as required by the machine specification.
Producing 2D CAD drawings of wiring harnesses to the relevant ISO standards. Produce and maintain accurate bills of materials within the SAP system.
Produce detailed schematic drawings of the electrical system for use in the Company's technical publications and training documentation.
Understand and use electrical wiring harness schematics to build or modify harnesses for development or production.
Understand the production ranges to aid in how to integrate electrical signals
Liaise with production personnel to achieve completion of production and prototype machines.
To liaise regularly and effectively with other members of the team to ensure a cohesive overall design.
To engage in the prototyping of new components, their evaluation and testing under representative conditions.
Value analysis/Cost reduction plays an important part of the Engineering brief to maintain an acceptable profit margin for the company.
Contribute to maintaining a high level of housekeeping and attention to health and safety issues to create a healthy and safe working environment.
You will have
To be successful as a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer you will have a healthy mix of the following:
Recent electrical Engineering degree or similar qualifications
Ideally a year or two of engineering experience (maybe Uni placement)
Knowledge of automotive electrics, electronics, and CAN bus
Ability to read technical schematics and harness drawings.
Experience or willingness to learn 2D Electrical CAD software (E3 preferred),
Experience or willingness to learn 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Drive, energy, intuition, determination with commitment
Ability to co-ordinate multi-task projects, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplined team.
Ambition to progress with the company as opportunities are available
