In simulation and modelling we create dynamic system performance models for MBDA products that are developed and used extensively throughout the product lifecycle from concept through to in service support.
When used internally they allow our system designers to estimate performance which they can use to guide the product design.
For our customer they provide a method of verifying system performance whilst reducing reliance on prohibitively expensive testing and trials.
Once the product is in service our models continue to be used by the customer to understand system capability and assist with operator training.
What's the opportunity? Modern weapon systems are made up of a large number of automated subsystems integrated together to provide the overall capability.
This provides a unique challenge when developing accurate system level models as they are both large in scale and highly complex with many interdependencies.
As a model developer this means you will often encounter new and challenging problems which will require you to apply your intuition and innovation to solve.
You will learn how to create simulation software in programming languages/environments such as Mathworks MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow, Fortran and C and how to create software in a team using team collaborations tools.
We also work closely with other departments and companies to integrate subsystem models and design data.
From these interactions you will gain a broad understanding of each subsystem that makes up the weapon system and how the system architecture makes these subsystems work together to provide an overall capability.
What are we looking for? Currently studying an Aeronautical, Control Systems, Maths, Physics, Systems Engineering or Computer Science discipline.
MBDA is committed to providing an inclusive working environment where our employees can be themselves and everyone has equal opportunity to reach their full potential.
We value difference and know that a diverse community makes for greater innovation and brings a breadth of skills, experience and perspectives.
All graduates, undergraduates and apprentices at MBDA are required to achieve the appropriate clearance relevant to their respective role.
Some roles, may be reserved for UK nationals and certain categories of information may be restricted to UK nationals also.
To gain suitable clearance individuals will need to have lived in the UK for up to 5 years dependent on the level of clearance required.
