The role of Business Development and Fundraising Manager is looking for a driven and entrepreneurial individual to join a long-established youth focused, grassroots charity, who make a huge impact to young people in their area to help them reach their full potential.
As Business Development and Fundraising Manager, you will have passion for community development, be a dynamic leader who will build key relationships with existing and future funders and help to grow and develop the fundraising team. As a member of the senior management team, they are looking for someone who can think strategically both within and beyond fundraising and make a significant contribution to the wider team through collaborative teamwork and influence- ensuring that the overall vision, values and ethos are central to the requirements of the service.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a sustainable fundraising strategy to increase and diversify income in line with the charity’s objectives – Trusts, Foundations, Corporate and Statutory
• Maintain relationships with existing funders as well as look for business development opportunities to build new relationships.
• Reporting and grant management
• Manage and lead staff to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, including developing and improving staff capability and development.
• Monitor, evaluate and review operational staff performance.
• Completing grant bids and government / council contract tenders with feedback from our youth – ensuring bids are reflective of the needs of the community.
• Ensure all monitoring and funding reports are completed and submitted on time.
• Identify individual training needs and develop a training plan.
• Manage fundraising volunteers.
Skills and experience required:
• Driven to make positive changed in youth sector.
• High energy with a “can do” attitude.
• Experience in business development / fundraising; ideally some exposure of working across multiple income streams; Trusts and Foundations, Corporates, Community or Direct Marketing
• Experience in leading through people / managing teams.
• A track record in dealing with face-to-face presentations, competitive pitches (to individuals and groups)
• Knowledge of the corporate fundraising mechanisms including charity of the year, employee fundraising, CSR and corporate foundations
• Experience with managing budgets and reporting
• Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, databases (CRM) for recording and reporting
• Focuses on the achievement of financial targets.
• Is entrepreneurial and drives opportunities for business development.
• Effective Communication - verbally and in writing.
