In November 2019 Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) became the first further education provider in England to achieve outstanding grades in every area of Ofsteds recently reformed Education Inspection Framework (EIF). The group is currently home to a population of over 5,000 full-time students and around 500 students on higher education programmes. We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers. We are looking for an IT Technician to join our pro-active and dynamic IT Services team.
The successful candidate will be required to deliver ICT support for the 4 sites that make up the NSCG group.
Ensuring that all IT hardware and software systems are maintained in functional order and that IT and telephony equipment is configured to the College Group requirements. The post holder will also have excellent communication skills and a strong customer service focus. You will need access to your own suitable transport to be able to visit sites across the Staffordshire region. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To provide telephone and electronic helpdesk IT Support to Staff and Students. To assist with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Colleges computer based networks, this includes both Windows and Apple Mac operating systems. To undertake physical repairs to laptops and desktop PCs. To software rebuild, audit and distribute IT equipment to end users. To assist in the testing of new software packages and services packs to ensure full system compatibility and stability before deployment. To maintain the Mitel VOIP telephony systems and report on deviations from the norm. To configure and maintain the various CCTV systems used across the group. To install and configure new equipment, including associated cabling and other peripheral works. To work evenings and weekends to cover special events such as open evenings and IT exams, when required. Prior notice will be given. Required Skills and Experience: Has excellent communication skills and a customer service focus. Has a working knowledge of modern computer software and hardware. Has an understanding of the Windows Server operating system. Is confident in undertaking physical repairs and modifications to IT hardware, such as printers, laptops and workstations.
