A leading manufacturing business is recruiting a Commodity Buyer. Applicants need direct procurement experience gained within a production, manufacturing or engineering business, and be familiar with a commodity approach to procurement.

The Commodity Buyer will work closely with a Commodity Manager to develop and execute direct procurement strategies. Supporting a large production manufacturing facility, the Commodity Buyer can expect to source across; raw materials (metallic, timber, composites, resins) engineered components, plastics, electronic control systems, and COTS. The role represents an excellent opportunity to join a mature and successful procurement team.

Specific duties of the Commodity Buyer include:

Supply market intelligence activities - understand supplier landscape of assigned commodities
Supplier selection, review and de-selection activities
Operational supply chain management activities - drive against OTD, OTIF etc
Negotiate, place and manage contracts and purchase orders with suppliers
On-going SRM and vendor management activities - management of supplier scorecards
Foster excellent relationships with relevant stakeholders across the business

Commodity Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:

Procurement experience within a production manufacturing or engineering business
Ability to negotiate and drive improved performance from suppliers
A broad understanding of the indirect supplier landscape
Degree / CIPS - desirable, but not essential
