Responsibilities & Duties
Safety - Manage the daily safety of all employees within your area by creating an active safety culture where all staff members share the same, beliefs, perceptions and values towards HSE and its criticality within the workplace, Safety First.
Quality - Ensure all staff in your section adhere to the Quality specifications by fostering a Right First Time approach to all work undertaken within the area. Ensure staff are well versed with both the route cards and the specifications, driving sustainable improvements to ensure quality issues arent repeated. Follow the company procedure for escalating quality concerns and ensure non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated.
Delivery - Ensure production throughput against the schedule is met by setting daily targets for all employees within your area. Inform individuals of their role within the team and their criticality to ensure production targets are achieved. Highlight and manage issues relating to output immediately allowing them to be resolved, thus not impacting output or efficiency. Monitor the areas performance in line with the plan to ensure customer deliveries are not compromised.
Cost Identify business improvement opportunities and assist in the implementation by working closely with the businesses Continuous Improvement team. Increase awareness of the need to streamline and improve processes as well as advance the Quality and Safety across the business. Improvements will have measurable benefits in terms of reduced process times, minimized risk or decreased rework, all of which will have tangible cost assigned.
People Management
Through effective communication create a culture of trust and collective responsibility for both success / failures to enhance teamwork across the department one business, one team. Work closely with colleagues to ensure there is effective cross departmental communication between each Section and shift.
Carry out Welcome to Work / Toolbox talks to communicate daily targets, assign duties and brief out One Point Lessons (OPLs).
Constantly promote high standards of work and etiquette by setting an example to roll out through the team so each member understands the requirements and behaviors expected of them.
Responsible for the daily management and support of a small team to guarantee operational success. Ensure all production operatives are engaged and utilized at all times, actively flex manning across the area to drive production.
Provide product expertise to assist with operator technical queries. Use this experience to play a key role in formulating and writing technical documents, Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSOWs) etc.
Identify training needs in the area to ensure the team can carry out critical activities which enable business objectives to be met.
Actively manage employees within the area, to ensure Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
Assist in accident and non-conformity investigations relating to both HSE and Quality, including the compiling of reports, with suggested closure actions.
Ensure your area is safe and free from obstructions and that team members are carrying out their activities in a safe manner, wearing the correct PPE at all times.
Monitor and manage the completion of all tasks, inc. paperwork within the area, ensuring high levels of performance are maintained.
Help in the management of individuals career development by assisting with one to ones and guidance. Participate in the return to work interviews, highlighting repeat issues to Production Coordinators.
Actively involved in the recruitment of new members of staff within your section, reviewing CVs and interviewing prospective employees.
Ensure all employees are adhering to the company 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) standards, by maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Resulting in areas which are free from hazards and obstructions.
Relationship Management
Develop a positive relationship between immediate colleagues and peers to create healthy work environment. Provide encouragement to team members and communicate daily goals.
Interface with materials to ensure all components are available and that M&D items have been captured.
Liaise with Production Coordinators, Engineering and Quality teams to drive for a prompt resolution to all product-based queries.
Ensure clear lines of communication are maintained between all sections on the shop floor, with the goal of improving HSE, Quality and output!
Provide feedback to Production coordinators on a daily activity, by maintaining departmental KPIs and communicating targets vs actual.
Support the company when the Production Coordinator is away by providing information to the wider business or by ensuring delivery requirements are met.
Actively participate in the companies 5S program by carrying out audits and driving a safety culture, feeding back information via tool box talks, Hazbase, Pirana etc.
Work closely with maintenance or Production Coordinators to ensure all equipment breakdowns are rectified immediately, thus not jeopardizing Safety, Quality or Output.

Carry out any other duties, as reasonably expected, by the Operations / Production Management.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Experience of managing small diverse teams.
Supervisory/leadership experience/training would be an advantage.
Basic Microsoft office skills, email, word and excel.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both written and verbal.
Proactive problem solver / team player.
Hours of work:
Working across all 3 shifts - Rotating pattern.
Mornings, Afternoons & Nights.
Bupa:
Offered after 6-months probationary period.
Holidays = 25 days in a full year plus the bank holidays pro-rata in first year, holidays accrue at the rate of 2 days per complete month worked and may only be taken as they are accrued.
Candidates should mention any pre-booked holidays during interview/offer stage.
Death in Service:
Insurance from day 1 currently the benefit specification is 1 x salary for those in probationary period and 4 x salary thereafter paid as a lump sum to nominated beneficiary subject to approval by insurer
