Sue Ross Legal are delighted to be supporting our client in the recruitment of a Legal Assistant to join a traditional high street practice based in Rotherham. The firm are an established organisation with a strong reputation, offering a full, efficient, and experienced legal service to local and sub regional clients who are either private clients or small to medium-sized businesses.
Our client is now looking to hire a Litigation Assistant who has experience and is ready to join in with an existing and varied caseload that includes family and general litigation. This role is ideal for a candidate who is looking to develop their career, within a firm who have strong connections to community organisations and the local Chamber of Commerce. Opportunities for progression, further training and significant career development are available for the right candidate; You will have the opportunity to later specialise in your chosen area of law or develop your skills within a broad range of litigation matters and continue to manage a varied caseload.
The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting Civil Litigation work and supporting the Civil Litigation Partner and team with quality civil litigation work.
The work would involve:
* Speaking with and managing clients needs professionally, providing advice on legal rights, and potential outcomes of legal actions.
* Assisting with and managing a varied caseload of civil court claims under supervision. Examples of work include, but are not limited to divorces, financial settlements, child arrangements, Employment Tribunals, debt collection, boundary disputes, insolvency, and bankruptcy.
* Drafting legal documentation.
* General administration duties, as requested by the team.
* Keeping clients informed about the progress of their cases and providing regular updates.
The suitable candidate must have:
* A law degree and up to date knowledge of legal principles.
Previous experience managing a caseload and assisting with at least one of the specific areas of law listed above.
* Experience of court processes.
* Ability to work independently, and a willingness to work in collaboration with others will also be important.
* Excellent organisational planning and communication skills/displayed intelligence.
* An ability to manage and control a wide variety of Civil Litigation related and other administrative tasks at a high level.
* Excellent Telephone and IT Skills including case management experience.
This is a full time, permanent position with a working week of 9am to 5.30 pm Monday to Thursdays and a 5pm finish on Friday.
Salary will be competitive, and based upon the successful candidates experience, and requirements.
