Education Inclusion Services is looking to appoint an experienced worker in the field of school inclusion on a fixed term contract for 12 months, pro-rata, term time only.
You will be working in a supportive but small team leading on inclusion advice, working with North and West Devon Schools and based from home or County Hall, Exeter.
The Education Inclusion Service provides a statutory, but impartial service for parents and carers, school governors, headteachers, school staff and other agencies about inclusion, reintegration and exclusion. Early support from the team can help a child to stay in school or return to school after an exclusion and offer opportunities to help them achieve their full potential. Education Inclusion Service aim to promote, support and encourage continuous learning and achievement for every child referred.
About the role:
The role of Inclusion officer is to support schools in Devon when children are at risk of exclusion but will include a wide variety of requests for advice including EHCPs, safeguarding concerns, dispute and more. It is important that you engage with pupils to ensure that their voice is heard and are able to listen to and understand complex family issues and provide effective multi agency strengths based approach that helps both pupils and their families to engage and thrive. It is likely that you will have had significant experience of working in a school.
The applicant will have a:
* Sound knowledge of inclusion within a school setting
* Can work effectively as a team member with a solution focused approach
* Strong verbal and written skills
* Knowledge of exclusion guidance
* Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and the graduated response
* Knowledge of safeguarding and adolescent safety framework
* Good IT skills
