I'm currently working closely with a fantastic Newcastle-based Defence client, who are on the hunt for two Design Engineers, ideally with previous experience in the Aerospace industry.

Job Overview:
Under the guidance of a Principal Engineer, the main responsibility entails utilizing technical proficiency to advance product development, technology, and reliability within PELs product range. Ensuring adherence to best practices and established engineering protocols is paramount.
**TO NOTE**
This role requires the candiate to either possess, or be eligible and willing to undergo the SC clearance process. This consists of background checks covering your financial history and criminal background along with your citizenship status. To be eligible in the first instance, you must hold sole british citizenship or have been living in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. Any candidates that do not meet one of these criteria will NOT be considered.
Primary Duties:
* Collaborating within a diverse engineering team to fulfill project objectives.
* Progressing designs from conceptualization to detailed manufacturing, encompassing drawings, component specifications, calculations, and reports.
* Participating in internal and external design evaluations, contributing technically throughout product/solution development.
* Assisting in verifying fellow engineers designs.
* Formulating testing criteria for prototypes and final products.
* Assisting in the assembly, testing, and trial phases of new products.
* Facilitating customer training and creating operational and maintenance guidelines.
* Analyzing issues and proposing design solutions.
* Operating within budget constraints to deliver safe, timely, and precise products.
* Staying informed about technical advancements to inform present and future product development.
* Collaborating cross-functionally within the organization to enhance efficiency and product effectiveness.
* Maintaining professional communication with colleagues, management, and clients.
* Undertaking other relevant tasks as delegated.
Requirements:
* A minimum of a 2:1 bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent, with 2-3 years of engineering experience.
* Proficiency in modern engineering design tools (2D + 3D CAD, Analysis, etc.).
* Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
* Basic understanding of hydraulic and control systems, with experience in team-based engineering environments.
* Demonstrated integrity and trustworthiness in the workplace.
* Capacity to analyze data, issues, and situations to make informed decisions.
* Self-driven, proactive, and results-oriented work ethic.
* Strong interpersonal skills and empathy towards others.
* Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
* Ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Personal Attributes and Additional Requirements:
* Compliance with security clearance procedures due to the company's defense contracts.
* Willingness to participate in internal training initiatives as needed.
Working Environment:
* Predominantly office-based with occasional visits to both domestic and international customers.
* On-site work may entail irregular hours and exposure to adverse weather conditions.
