Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality inpatient and community mental health and learning disability services to a population of around 2 million people in County Durham and Darlington, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York. We also provide forensic and offender services across the North East, Cumbria and Lancashire. Our mission is to improve peoples' lives by minimising the impact of mental ill health or a learning disability. Our 7,500 dedicated staff demonstrate our values every day and the current COVID-19 crisis heightens the critical nature of the services we provide. Working in a collaborative, multi-agency environment we are a large and complex organisation operating across over 150 sites and with an annual budget approaching £400 million.
Following the appointment of Brent Kilmurray as our new Chief Executive we have engaged with our workforce and partners in developing a new five-year strategy and in a review of our organisational values. Our new Director of People and Culture will join at the start of an ambitious and exciting journey of improvement. This is a broad, strategic role with responsibility for Operational and Transformational HR, Organisational and Leadership Development, Engagement and Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. The postholder will create a People Strategy to align with our organisational vision and will play a lead role externally in the workforce agenda as we seek opportunities to integrate services for our population through strong partnerships.
The emphasis will be on making us a truly values based Trust focussed on people. Working with the Board and Senior Leader Group to improve patient and staff experience. This is not any ordinary HR role; this role will be key to delivering our new organisational strategy and embedding our values. We are changing the culture and need someone who can lead our transformation and create a sustainable people focussed organisation.
Previous NHS experience is not essential for this post, we are interested in hearing from innovative and strategic leaders with demonstrable achievement of large scale organisational and culture change in complex, service based organisations. A values-based and inclusive leader; you will bring a focus on staff empowerment and engagement and a commitment to continuous quality improvement. With a high degree of political awareness, you will quickly build credibility with our wide range of stakeholders and will share our passion for exceeding the expectations of our service users, their carers and families. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and progressive Executive team and to make an impact on the lives of our staff and those we serve.
