Job Title: Engineering Manager (design) / Senior Engineer - Oil & Gas, Marine, Subsea
Location: Washington Houghton Le Spring UK
Hybrid Working (Mondays and Fridays working from home) (Tuesday to Thursday office based)
Hours of work 8.45am to 5.15pm (flextime available)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager (Design) / Senior Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will lead and oversee the design engineering department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions for marine projects. Proficiency in utilizing FEA using Nastran, 3D modelling with Autodesk Inventor, fabrication drawings, and compliance with DNV and ABS codes are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and lead the design engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise.
Oversee the entire design process, from concept development to detailed engineering, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.
Utilize FEA (Finite Element Analysis) techniques with Nastran to analyze structural integrity and optimize design solutions.
Proficiently utilize Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling, creating detailed designs and assemblies for marine structures and components.
Generate fabrication drawings, general arrangements, and vessel deck layouts in accordance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
Conduct vessel stability assessments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
Develop and review sea fastening solutions to secure cargo and equipment on vessels during transportation.
Collaborate with naval architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate design requirements and ensure project objectives are met.
Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes, incorporating best practices into design processes.
Ensure compliance with DNV and ABS codes and standards throughout the design and engineering phases.
Requirements / Qualifications / Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in a similar role within the maritime or offshore industry.
Expertise in utilizing FEA software, particularly Nastran, for structural analysis and optimization.
Proficiency in 3D modelling using Autodesk Inventor, with a strong understanding of parametric design principles.
Experience in generating fabrication drawings, general arrangements, and vessel deck layouts.
Familiarity with vessel stability assessments, sea fastening techniques, and compliance with DNV and ABS codes.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and deliver results within deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Detail-oriented approach with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
