Role: Mortgage Underwriting Support Manager
Location: Newbury (Hybrid working available after probation period)
Hours: Full Time, 35 hours a week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Salary: £Dependant on skills and experience

What will you be doing?
* Distribute work fairly amongst the team members which consists of 6 Underwriters (of which 2 are Senior level)
* Ensure that SLAs are consistently met
* Act as a credible decision maker for referrals from the Sales and Underwriting teams
* Use loan approval mandate appropriately
* Make lending recommendations to other advanced mandate holders
* Develop strong working relationships with direct reports, guiding and supporting them to develop the wider team
* Set clear expectations of performance and behaviours, leading by example, and share how these contribute to the ongoing success of the Society
* Understand your responsibilities and obligations in relation to the prevention of financial crime

Essential Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working with internal and/or external, customers to ensure the highest quality service experience
* Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Significant mandated, manual mortgage underwriting experience
* Motivation to want to lead and develop a team with evidence of leadership qualities
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience of managing and coaching an effective team
* CeMAP qualified (if not you will be required to study for it under the support of the Society)
* Competent in the use of Microsoft packages - Word, Excel, Outlook and Office 365
