Our client over the last few years having been established for nearly 50 years have experienced considerable growth by way of bringing in their manufacturing in house. As such the need has arisen for a Purchasing Assistant. Salary for the position is between 24000 and 26000 per annum.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 830am - 5pm
"NB you must have had experience of working in a Purchasing role someone who has done purchasing in the past and dealt with factories overseas etc. we need someone who can improve our purchasing process and bring new ideas"
As part of your role you must have worked in Purchasing or Buying previously within either manufacturing or Distribution and have a good idea of supply chain functions
You will be:
* Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing and terms of contracts
* Monitor stock levels and raise purchase orders using internal stock management system (SAGE)
* Internal communication with the in-house design and quality team to ensure the correct components are sourced and certification obtained
* Approve product artwork and labels submissions when placing purchase orders with factories
* Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues or discrepancies
* Liaise with warehouse team to ensure smooth booking and delivery of goods
* Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities
* Manage and maintain supplier-related documentation, ensuring compliance and accuracy
* Proactive and creative contribution to suggest new product concepts and ideas that may increase profitability and/or quality of our products
* Occasional Worldwide travel factory visits and trade shows
* Other duties include assisting in other areas of the business as and when required
Essential Skills and Experience
* Computer literate
* Previous experience in a buying or procurement role
* Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
* Knowledge of procurement best practices and industry trends
