The opportunity for a multiskilled engineer at OC is a fantastic opportunity for a driven engineer looking to progress in their career as the role will cover a multitude of tasks that will strengthen someones skillset and CV no end.

We have a new triple linear weigher designed and made by cotswalds that is dispensing directly into a Selo bagging machine (From Omori) This machinery is due to be delivered , installed and commissioned mid March ready for production April in our ISO7 Clean Room. We have a Gummy 150 machine with cooking vessels and cooling tunnels ready to go fully operational in March. We have our BRC Audits the end of April . For a person to be involved in the implementation of all this and grow with the business as it is taking off is an opportunity to good to miss. We are currently looking at a bigger site and another gummy machine (with triple the current capacity) so the person will be involved in the moving of machinery and install at a new site. As the business grows the engineering department will grow also. In the last 12 months we have launched in EG Garages, WH Smith (Airports and Train Stations), Selfridges, Spar, Wells pharmacy and more outlets on the way along with two big white label contracts and we have all new products due to be launched

Job Description:

As a Multi-Skilled Food Production Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and efficiency of food production processes. Your responsibilities will revolve around maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the food production equipment and systems, while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on food production machinery, including but not limited to mixers, cooking vessels, conveyors, motors, compressors, and packaging equipment. Analyse equipment performance and identify opportunities for optimisation to minimise downtime and ensure continuous production. Complete ad-hoc building fabrication work.

2. Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose mechanical, electrical, or automation system failures, and take appropriate corrective actions. Collaborate with other team members to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

3. System Upgrades and Improvements: Identify areas for improvement in the production processes, automation systems, and productivity. Propose and implement changes, such as equipment upgrades, process modifications, or automation enhancements, to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

4. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure equipment meets safety requirements. Conduct regular safety audits, manage emergency situations effectively, and actively contribute to creating a culture of safety consciousness among the team.

5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and modifications performed on equipment. Prepare reports on equipment performance, breakdowns, and improvement initiatives. Update relevant documentation, including manuals, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

6. Training and Support: Provide training and support to production staff to ensure they can operate the equipment safely and effectively. Share knowledge and best practices related to equipment maintenance, troubleshooting techniques, and process optimization.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.

- Proven experience in food production engineering, preferably in a multi-skilled role.

- Strong knowledge of food processing equipment, automation systems, and manufacturing processes.

- Proficient in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.

- Familiarity with quality and safety standards in food production.

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical and mechanical drawings.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

- Flexibility to work in shifts and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Salary £40,00 plus .. Monday to Friday 9:00 17:00 plus 20 days Holiday, you never work your birthday and 8 bank holidays.

Based on site in Liverpool (Knowsley), Pension is 3% company contribution
