Main Purpose of the Job
To work within the Civil Engineering Team responsible for Highway Design, Asset Management, Traffic Management/Regulations, Road Safety, Maintenance, Traffic Signals, Street Lighting, Structures, Flood Risk and and
Coastal Protection.
To deliver planned activities and services within the Civil Engineering Team in accordance with the Council's strategies and policies. To oversee the initiation, planning and implementation of projects to our agreed high standard and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical execution of design and engineering activities on a variety of civil engineering projects, including feasibility studies, consultations, site inspections, surveys, contract administration duties, reporting and technical queries
Oversee the production of various aspects of design in accordance with relevant design standards and codes, including sign-off in accordance with grade.
Helping to ensure successful integrated delivery of projects by working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment, including health and safety, sustainability, environment, planning to achieve integrated designs/solutions. Oversee and prepare design contract documents for various civil engineering schemes using appropriate design standards such as
DMRB, MfS, MCHW, IANs, HPNs, TSRGD, Traffic Sign Manuals & relevant FCERM documentation.
Use a variety of IT packages undertake surveys, designs other
Supervising and mentoring assistant engineers and technicians.
Complying with Health & Safety and CDM Regulations and assisting in the development of a Health & Safety culture within the organisation.Qualifications
HNC or degree in civil engineering / highways or related discipline
Technical or Incorporated Engineer Membership of (or working towards) a professional body and 5+ years' experience.OR
Equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience within a relevant field (highways design/maintenance, traffic management, road safety or parking)How to Apply or for more Information:
