- Placement Student to join our team specializing in Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) related activities and to have the challenging opportunity assisting with the HSE and Energy management systems and legal requirements for our Engine Business Segment in Darlington .
During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Participate in accident and near miss investigation, reporting and HSE inspections (employees and contractors).
Work relating to the environmental permit, consent to discharge, waste recycling, packaging, energy and water use improvements.
Attendance at the relevant HSE meetings and support of changes through the environmental aspect & impacts / risk assessment / HumanTech process.
Assist with Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Assessments and provide support with the Industrial Hygiene Monitoring.
Identify opportunities to improve HSE performance through targeted projects and objectives & targets, participate in development of HSE related documentation and ensure that such documentation is maintained using the document control process.
Involvement and support of internal and external HSE and Energy Management System audits and to assist with training e.g.
HSE toolbox talks etc.
There will be a requirement to assist in the procurement of items to assist with HSE systems (e.g.
signage etc).
To be successful in this role you will need the following: Currently studying towards a Bachelor or Master's degree or equivalent in Health, Safety or Environmental and related subjects and not graduating this academic year.
Self-motivated with a passion for HSE and the ability to work as a team member across all functions and areas of the site.
Good communication skills (presentational and interpersonal), good organisational skills and the ability to work independently within deadlines.
Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft office.
