Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sawston, Cambridgeshire
Type: Long-Term Ongoing Role
Start Date: As Soon As Possible or January 2024
We are seeking to appoint a confident individual to fill the role of Cover Supervisor. The successful candidate will supervise KS3 and KS4 classes, across the curriculum, during the short-term absence of their class teacher. Occasionally, there may be no lessons requiring cover. At such times Cover Supervisors must be willing to work with the teaching assistant, administration or inclusion teams. Allocation of duties will depend on skills and experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for an assertive individual who has a good rapport with young people and is able to ensure that learning takes place in a calm, orderly and respectful environment. The College is an extremely positive and friendly place to work. Relationships between teaching and support staff are excellent, and senior staff offer strong support to their colleagues in the maintenance of good order. The successful candidate will also undertake shared responsibility for a mentor group as a co-mentor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Covering Lessons: Supervise and manage classrooms in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Maintain Order: Ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
- Assist with Learning: Provide support to students during lessons when required.
- Engage with Students: Build positive relationships with pupils, promoting a love for learning.
- Follow Lesson Plans: Implement pre-set lesson plans and instructions left by teachers.
- Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to cover a range of subjects and year groups.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance and behaviour.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience working in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
- Passion for Education: A genuine desire to contribute to the development and education of young people.
- Adaptability: The ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resilience: Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
