As Senior Cost Control Engineer, you will lead a team built to drive efficiency and secure optimal commercial outcomes for our major defence programmes. Through leadership of cost engineering and estimating professionals, delivery of cost engineering outputs and strive for best practice, your team will review contractors bids to the Ministry of Defence, ensuring all aspects of proposals and costs provided by the supply chain are robust, fit for purpose and provide value for money. In addition to leadership responsibilities, you will be expected to apply specialist cost engineering knowledge to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to industry partners, contractors and the wider defence enterprise.
Due to the nature of the work, you will be required to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders from project functions such as Commercial, Project Managers, Finance, Engineering, and wider Project Controls. You will integrate with accomplished, multi-disciplinary teams and will migrate across several projects in the portfolio, gaining full exposure to some of the largest engineering programmes in the UK and operating at the core of what we do.

We operate a hybrid working environment and the expectation is that you will attend the site approximately two to three days per week, according to business need. Initially, you will be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with your team, role and the environment. When attending site, your primary place of work will be HMNB Portsmouth, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO1 3LJ.

Responsibilities
* Leading a team to review Contractors proposals and assess them against the Single Source Regulations Office (SSRO) Guidance for Single Source Contracting
* To communicate complex project cost engineering data to key members of the project, programme and DE&S leadership in a simple and understandable way
* Using your technical Cost Engineering knowledge and experience to communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders, when providing advice and guidance that impact project outcomes
* Responsible for output assurance and governance, ensuring output quality and that tasks have been delivered in accordance with business policy and process
* Lead, guide and coach a team of Cost Engineers, providing strategic and policy-lead direction
* Support in building and sustaining a team of suitably qualified and experienced staff and identifying development opportunities
Person specification
To be successful with your application, youll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
* Previous experience leading cost engineering, cost management, estimating, quantity surveying and/or similar outputs, advice and guidance in a complex project delivery environment
* Ability to communicate cost engineering and cost advice to senior leaders within the business and supply chain
* Have experience in the use of analytical estimating techniques, to assess and interpret complex cost models
