Position: Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator (FTC Maternity Cover)
* Location: Bedford, Beds
* Contract: FTC -12 Month, Maternity cover, 37 Hours per week.
*Flexibility over hours worked will be necessary at times to meet operational requirements
Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator:
Do you have previous experience working in a similar role?
Are you knowledgeable in SHE regulatory affairs?
Do you have a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent at a minimum?
Maybe you have some knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001?
Are you a confident individual with strong communication skills and have the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels?
Do you have some experience reviewing the implementation and performance of the ISO 45001?

Job Role:
To support the Group SHE Manager in ensuring that the organisation achieves best practise in protecting the health and safety of all persons affected by its undertakings, and exceeds all legislative requirements.
Job Accountabilities:
Promote a culture of positive health and safety awareness to employees, contractors, and members of the public.
Work with relevant departmental managers and supervisors to help them set realistic health and safety objectives, deciding priorities and establishing adequate systems and performance standards, and support all areas of the business to provide "reasonably practical" solutions to health and safety issues.
Implement and monitor policies and plans, and maintain procedures, including reviewing and auditing.
Assist in reporting, investigating, recording and analysing accidents and incidents.
Assist in reviewing the implementation and performance of the ISO 45001.
Support the business in acquiring and maintaining ISO 14001 certification.
Assist the engineering department in ensuring that all contractors operate to the standards required by our client, by maintaining an approved list of contractors, ensuring contractors have appropriate documentation, and are inducted before being allowed access to the site.
Maintain documentation for all contractors and produce 'contractor packs to issue when contractors arrive on site.
Audit contractors to ensure they are working safely and to the agreed risk assessment and method statement they submitted.
Issue and supply permits for contractors and our clients employees where required for high-risk activities.
Review and authorise risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks. Assist the sites to maintain the Q-Pulse database.
Assist in organising and scheduling service visits for site and plant equipment for departments without the necessary technical competence.
Work closely with the Sustainability Coordinator, including cross-training of appropriate skills, to work as an integrated team, and to be able to cover absences and assist at peak periods of work.
Liaise with external bodies, as appropriate to the role.
Carry out HSE inductions as necessary.
Carry out monthly HSE audits and follow up actions to timely completion. Support sites with weekly inspections where required.
Carry out any reasonable request as requested any member of management within the reasonable scope of the role.
