As a result of ongoing expansion and the recent CP7 contract acquisition in the NW&C region, our clients are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for either a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a Quantity Surveyor seeking advancement prospects. This role involves joining our clients esteemed team working on civils and rail infrastructure projects in the North West Region. Your responsibilities will include playing a pivotal role in the commercial and financial management, ensuring the profitable performance of our diverse portfolio of projects across the region
Business Unit
In a dynamic and fast-paced rail civil infrastructure project setting, our clients are currently managing a broad spectrum of ongoing civil projects. These encompass line side rail civil contracts, bridge and structure renewals, significant structural installations such as new bridges, Access for All (AFA) initiatives, and general civil works.
Typical projects entail upgrades and refurbishments of bridges, station enhancements (including platforms), Access for All initiatives, as well as various structural undertakings like bridges and footbridges, and line side civil works.
The Role
As a Senior / Quantity Surveyor, your main focus will be within the regional project delivery team, primarily on rail infrastructure projects including structures, bridges, and station enhancements in the region. Additionally, you will offer support to other projects across the North West region.
Day to day responsibilities would include:
* Prompt presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements.
* Ensuring that payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
* Prompt submission of estimate / tendering information to the client.
* Prompt presentation of Final Accounts, including negotiation of all contractual entitlements.
* Prompt presentation of weekly cost / value information, delivery schedules and associated Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data.
* Preparation and presentation of Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and Final Cost/Value Forecasts.
* Preparation and presentation of forward work schedules and cash flows.
* Procurement, negotiation and placing of Sub-contract Orders.
* Financial and commercial management of Sub-contractors through to settlement of their Final Accounts.
* Ensuring that all contractual letters/ notices and information are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.
* Preparation of appropriate documentation in support of additional payment, variations, claims etc.
* Commercial support to the site and contracts management team.
* Commercial support to the Estimating and Procurement teams.
* Overview and support of Quantity Surveyors under training as appropriate.
* Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information.
* Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience at least at Quantity Surveyor level in a rail and civil engineering project environment working for a main contractor.
* Relevant degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
* Civil Engineering project experience (rail, bridges, roads, structures for example)
* Rail experience (Network Rail projects or maintenance frameworks)
* Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract)
* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor working in a main contractor organisation
