Our Client, a World recognised innovative, not to mention visionary designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art sport cars are looking to expand their team with only the best talent. Given this, it is our pleasure to be currently partnering them with a view to finding an experienced Cost Engineer / Cost Estimator on a permanent basis to join their team in Surrey as soon as is feasible. On offer to the successful candidates is a negotiable, albeit dependent on relevant experience, basic salary together with a full benefits package, to include certain flexible working.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
As their Cost Engineer / Cost Estimator, you will work closely with the responsible buying, engineering, and manufacturing teams. Your primary role will be to take engineering data and analyse this to create a cost up model to allow cost targets to be generated. These targets can then be used as a tool for buyer/supplier cost negotiations to ensure BoM targets are delivered. Additionally, your role is also to analyse supplied supplier QAF data to ensure that the company are receiving value for money and to identify opportunities and/or errors in suppliers cost calculations again to be used as part of the buyer/supplier negotiations.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Should ideally be educated to Degree level in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical and/or related field, although lesser qualifications, but plenty of relevant experience will be considered.
You will be an experienced bottom-up Cost Engineer / Cost Estimator with your skills having been honed and obtained ideally from working in an Automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier environment. However, we may also consider an experienced Cost Engineer who has worked in an aligned sector i.e. Aerospace / Super Yachts etc.
You should have strong commercial awareness.
You will need an in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes in Automotive manufacturing or similar aligned industry.
Should be experienced in Quotation Analysis Form interrogation.
Competence in reviewing technical drawings and GD+T is required.
You will understand the fundamentals of bottom-up Cost Engineering,
You will need organised, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directing, with a passion for delivering objectives and be comfortable challenging existing processes.Its great if you also have the following:
Experience with Apriori costing software would be ideal, but this is not essential.
Any experience you can bring in CATIA V5 (or an alternative CAD system) would be useful, but again is not essential.
Whilst not essential, any experience you have in costing Electrical / Electronic products; particularly Electrical Powertrain applications would advantageous.
