Position overview:
The Planning Engineer for Client will be responsible for all planning and scheduling on the project. They will develop and monitor schedules created for the project, review and analyse contractors schedules, report on status, ensure schedules are in line with planning best practice,
Key Responsibilities
* Project Planning and Scheduling:
* Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with project objectives and milestones,
* Collaborate with project managers and teams to integrate various project elements into the master schedule,
* Develop integrated master schedules for programme planning and scheduling, identifying key interface points between projects and summarising for key senior stakeholders,
* Demonstratable knowledge of industry best practice in planning principles, understanding of business lifecycle phases and application in project schedules.
* Progress Monitoring and Analysis:
* Implement progress tracking mechanisms to monitor project performance against established schedules and company standard key performance indicators (KPIs),
* Analyse schedule variances, identify critical paths, and propose corrective actions to mitigate delays and optimize project timelines,
* Undertake detailed schedule quality reviews of contractors/sub-contractors schedules, utilising the DCMA-14 Point Assessment and best practice methods.
* Resource Management:
* Allocate and manage project resources efficiently within Primavera P6, considering manpower, equipment, and materials,
* Collaborate with resource managers to ensure resource availability aligns with project requirements.
* Change Management:
* Assess the impact of changes to the project scope or schedule and update plans accordingly.
* Work with project teams to minimize the impact of changes on overall project timelines.
* Stakeholder Communication:
* Communicate project progress, issues, and risks effectively to project stakeholders, including project managers, clients, and senior leadership,
* Facilitate discussions and presentations on project controls topics during project meetings.
* Compliance:
* Ensure adherence to company standards in project controls activities,
* Participate in audits and reviews to demonstrate compliance with established procedures.
Qualification/Skills
Essential
Professional qualification in relevant field (APM qualified, HND/NVQs in Planning/Project Controls, Bachelors Degree)
Extensive years of experience in the planning role within the EPC environment,
Knowledge and expert user in Primavera P6,
Advanced Microsoft Office skills,
Strong project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Desirable
* Experience operating as a Client Representative.
* Setting up planning processes and procedures.
* APM / Professional Body member
