We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Oldham. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN) in a primary school setting.
Job Duties:
Provide one-to-one support to students with SEN, both in the classroom and during specialised sessions.
Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
Support students with their academic and social development, focusing on their specific needs.
Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Help students with SEN to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
Monitor and record the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
Assist with the management of behaviour and emotional difficulties, employing appropriate strategies.
Provide support during off-site activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Utilise specialist knowledge and skills in areas such as autism, learning support, and phonics to provide effective support.
Use communication aids, including PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), to facilitate communication for students with speech and language difficulties.
Required Qualifications:
Health and Social Care Level 3 qualification.
Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Education:
Minimum of GCSE required including English and Maths.
Experience:
Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within a special educational needs setting, is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of autism, learning support, and SEN.
Familiarity with KS1 and KS2 curriculum.
Experience in providing SEN support and implementing individual education plans.
Proficient in phonics and PECS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional qualifications in special educational needs or related fields would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
